Is it normal for Windows 8.1 to show "Applying Updates" after a BSOD crash? I saw this happen on my desktop earlier this week and now on my laptop. I checked the update log and there was no update applied immediately after the crash.

Not normal, no. When you automatically install updates Windows will apply them next time you reboot or after 72 hours (I think) if you don't. It sounds like your BSOD counted as a reboot and so it was just a coincidence. Don't worry about it.

You want someone to look at the cause of the BSOD? If so follow these instructions to upload the requisite info.http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html
