    0xC004F012 after "disk repair"

    Hello and welcome,

Today my beloved Win 8.1 gave me a surprising license deactivation, meaning the license just suddenly became void despite working properly for some few months. I suspect two reasons:

    - I changed GPU the day before (but it's not like the problem occurred right after changing GPU)
    - during system boot right before occurrence of the issue Windows was performing (routine?) HDD autorepair. This could suggest that some system files were damaged in the process. My only drive is an OCZ Vector SSD.

    Obviously, my license is genuine.

I did try slui.exe 4 - nothing loads after selecting region. The loading icon just keeps running. I also tried sfc /scannow. It said some files were corrupted which could not be repaired. I'm attaching the log file. I also tried performing autorepair from Windows CD - to no avail. I also ran the MGADiag I found somewhere, but this version seems incompatible with 8.1, as it says "Validation unsupported OS".

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know if buying a new license key (which I obviously would like to avoid) would work for me. An activation suddenly disappearing is just so... windows...

From the elevated command prompt run
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Then run the sfc /scannow command again and reboot when finished.

Run also the activation troubleshooter to see what is going on

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately this didn't work. The second command did claim to have repaired something, but the problem persists. Attaching diag report.

Btw. the 8.1 I'm running is an upgrade from Win 7. By no means am I giving up yet, but if I bought a valid 8.1 full unlock key from eBay, would it work with my upgrade copy?

I was unable to open your Diagnostic Report.

You can change the key at any time with the version of Windows you have installed.

Windows is seeing your key as not valid. It may be due to the hardware change, though unlikely if only graphics card changed.

Run Display_Licence_Info to see event log errors.

OK, silly me. So, the report file indicates an error 0x80070426 which stands for "service disabled".
