and we'll install them for you soon".

When will they be downloaded and installed?

I'm set to automatically install updates.
I have 14 Important updates shown that were published on 8/12. I thought that they would be downloaded and installed with the next Automatic Maintenance, but the Action Center shows that the Maintenance was run this morning (8/14).

I know that I can manually install them, but why hasn't it happened automatically?
This condition is currently present on both my Desktop, and Tablet computers, so I'm sure it's not something that's messed up on my end.

Optional updates maybe? Do you have the box checked for "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates".

As I said, I have 14 IMPORTANT updates. There are actually 15, because another was published today.
There is also 1 optional update, but I know I'll have to do that one manually.
The "recommended update" box is checked.

Have you checked you computer to see if you have the 8/12 updates listed but not yet installed?

I ran Windows update manually this time around, as I was looking for the optional update with the new added features. In the past I have gotten the "Windows is installing updates do not turn off your PC" message on shut down so I know they are being installed automatically. Not sure what's up with your system though.

Last night, the updates downloaded and installed on my tablet shortly after turning it on. As of this morning, they still haven't downloaded on my Desktop.

Both set to the same Time Zone and Country, correct date and time? Patch Tuesday almost always ends up being patch Wednesday for me. I think they stager the auto downloads depending on where you live or what Time zone your in. An incorrect date and time setting can mess things up.

I just checked again. The Desktop was updated about two hours ago It's waiting for a restart.

The system works. It's just a mystery to me exactly how it works.
