OK after i ran that FIX i did the updates and you guessed it they Failed! Iv'e had it since the 4th of august from Currys, It's not a hardware issue so i don't think i can return it unless it's hardware, I could format it but unsure weather that will void the warantee.

    Try the following:
    1. Install the updates one at a time based on date of release.
    if that fails
    2. download the updates manually then run them one at a time based of date of release.
    if that fails
    3. remove all installed updates, in reverse order of release date, and start over.
    if that fials
    4. Reinstall the OS from vendor provided OS disks,

    Good luck

When you ran the Update troubleshooter, it gave you the option to view the details. Did you do that and what was it showing?

The error, 0x80070057, still mean an invalid parameter. I do not know what parameter it is referring to.

Make sure you are not on a metered connection. Have you tried another network? I once saw someone on a DSL connection and could not do updates. As soon as he went outside and used is neighbor's connection, the updates worked.

I have not yet seen the WindowsUpdate.log listing I requested. The last few days would be good and it may not help, but won't hurt.

Ok iv'e made a few developments so to speak, I got to about 30 updates done it required a restart then proceeded to fail and it did restore on its own this time, I was able to download windows 8.1 it installed itself overnight....I decided to contact Asus anyway he gave me instructions...

    1: Restart the unit
2: Start pressing F9 upon start up
3: Select EMS enabled and press Enter
4: It will say; Windows is loading files
5: Select Next on the Asus Preload wizard
6: Select “Recovery to the first partition only” and press Next and Finish
7: Click on OK to reboot the unit, once rebooted it will ask to setup the
    unit again.

Turns out there is no Option for EMS enable?
I Rma'd back to them and they have given me a rma number.

    Ok here is the log.

If you have already updated to 8.1, the F9 options will probably not work. There does seem to be a utility called Backtracker or something like that you may be able to use if you want to Reset your system back to a Factory condition. Check the Asus site for it and there may be a link in one of the other threads.

I will check your Update Log...

I have been looking through your log, but not yet finished. Some questions so far.

    1. I see a Device Update for a Realtek Audio, do you show that being installed? I do see a HP printer driver which was updated...

The other updates I see installed are KB 2969817 and KB 2962409 (8.1 updates) and KB 2974008 (Explorer Flash)

You might try turning off the Hardware updates by using the Advanced System settings, Hardware tab and the Device Installation Settings. You could set it to allow you to decide.

Have you hidden some updates, like KB2899189 Update for Microsoft Camera Codec Pack for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems?

If you reset your system, it may take some time for the Automatic updates to catch up, but right now, it is still showing around 20 updates waiting. You might set the system to ask you what to do, the manually search for updates and install the ones found. Repeat the process until finished. Some updates may not install until an earlier one is set.
