Just under 14mb on the Dell, little more than a couple of photos.

Jan... that's great to hear that you have got it all sorted.
Hi Mooly, Thanks for the update and thanks for your help in sorting out my problem. My PC is running so well now that it would be a shame to risk spoiling by starting all over again to see what difference a smaller partition would make. I have written down your instructions so that I have something to refer to the next time I do a clean install of Windows.

    Many thanks for your help.

    You're very welcome

(I find W8.1 runs fantastically well on my Dell Vostro laptop. From hitting the power button to being online takes under 14 seconds. Absolutely remarkable. An 8yr old Acer I have is currently running W8.1 (Enterprise, 32 bit version) installed using the same method as here and that works very well too apart from the "quick start". So that's the next question I have to put to the forum )

    One more suggestion:
Since you've just deleted 95,000+ files. Look under: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows
There is a file: Windows.edb which is the search index database for Windows Search feature. Open Services and disable Windows Search service then delete it then re-enable the Windows Search Servce to let Windows rebuild the Search Index. By doing this, it might free up some more space and also keep your Search Index database up to date.

Hi topgundcp, Thanks for this additional suggestion...I will take a look at it but will probably leave things as they are for now as my system is running so well and a I don't want to risk spoiling it.

    Many thanks

Hello, I've built a new machine and installed Windows 8.1 and all the updates and i only have 69 GB free of a 111GB SSD. Take in consideration that i have not a single app installed, I've already ran the disk utility and freed some space. Can this be because i have a relatively large amount of...

Hello everyone. Today I installed Windows 8.1 on my notebook. I have 60GB SSD on my notebook so basicly just for windows and some programs (no movies etc. that's all saved on external hard drive). However, when I installed windows, it took wery little space. I still had 44GB free. After updates...
There are these files with filenames beginning and ending with curly braces taking up too much space in my SSD main OS drive. They are located in the 'C:\Windows' directory. Could somebody tell what these are, and if they are safe to delete? I suspect something bad (virus perhaps), but I don't...
My laptop died and I purchased a new one, with such bad luck that I had to return it two times for being deffective. So this is the 3rd one in a row in which I am suffering the same "torture". After three days or so, when starting Windows (after shut down, not suspend), it will take hours with...
Hey guys. Recently I've encountered a problem whilst trying to clean up my HDD (it was filling up way too quickly and I wanted to get rid of some unwanted games/programs), and I noticed a problem with file sizes of even small programs. For a start, I am a massive FSX simmer, so that's why...
I've been using Win8 CP for about 3 months now, and I'm a bit shocked that my 100Gb partition is almost full. Take note that I have a separate partition for multimedia files other than for OS. I'm also running Win7 on a separate drive and so far it has only taken up around 40+Gb in a span of a...
