    Notification Reason: 0xC004F200 (non-genuine).
Please use slmgr.vbs /ato to activate and update KMS client information in order to update values.

Why "I TRIED DOING THE KMS MYSELF"? just contact your system administrator - alternatively refer back to post #5 above.
Not sure if M$ have actually banned certain KMS PID's on Windows 8 yet, but that is a distinct possibility.

I am the system administrator. It was fully activated. I called MS. They told me to reinstall the software. Why should I have to do this? They were no help at all, except to either purchase another Win 8 or key. More money. You should read up on this. Thousands of people that have purchased legal copies of Win 8 are going through this. MS is fully aware of this problem and have done nothing about it. No one should have to deal with this. I did this over the phone again recently and it was again activated and again it deactivated. Dell is aware of this problem as well, and they are not doing anything about it. The activation is not reading the OEM number on the motherboards correctly and thousand of people are going through extreme problems with activating that they are going back to Win 7. I paid alot for this and feel that MS and Dell should be helping people with these problems. I have done nothing wrong. I have done things correctly. That is why I did what Noel suggested and ran what he said to run to see what was wrong. I feel that I might have had the wrong Win 8 package sold to me. so that is why I wanted Noel to look at what he suggested. Please read more about all the problems that people are having with activating Win 8. I feel that being informed would greatly help us all. Take care. Pia

Well back to my initial question.. where did you get that PC from? Did it come pre-installed? - The key in use is an installation GVLK in general use by organisations that have a KMS server and Windows Pro VL clients...surely you did not buy it? If you did you got ripped off - don't blame Dell or M$ blame the guy you bought it from...
If you are the system admin, of which organisation and which KMS server do you use? anyway do a slmgr.vbs -dlv from elevated prompt to see KMS details...

PS the OEM issue you mention is totally a different issue - if your PC came with Windows 8 factory installed you can re-install from the recovery partition and the system will activate automatically with the BIOS key for the edition it is licenced for.

The Key in use is a KMS Volume License Key - and requires activation at an organisation's own KMS server.

Where did you acquire this copy of Windows from? What exactly did you buy?
Did it come with a Key? - if not then you were sold a counterfeit.

Well back to my initial question.. where did you get that PC from? I TOLD YOU THIS ALREADY. DELL. Did it come pre-installed? - YES BUT WITH WIN 7 HOME PREM 64 BIT AND THEN UPGRADED TO WIN 7 ULTIMATE 64 BIT WITH NO PROBLEMS.

The key in use is an installation GVLK in general use by organisations that have a KMS server and Windows Pro VL clients...surely you did not buy it? YES I DID. FROM MS. THEN WHY DID IT ACTIVATE FOR 6 MONTHS. AND THEN WHEN I CALLED MS IT WAS ACTIVATED. AGAIN I AM ASKING YOU TO READ MORE ABOUT THIS.

If you did you got ripped off - YES I DID.

don't blame Dell or M$ blame the guy you bought it from...I AM PUTTING THE "BLAME ON THE SALES PERSON AT MS WHO COULD NOT SPEAK ENGLISH WELL AND I HAD TO REPEAT OVER AND OVER THE INFO NEEDED FOR THEM TO SELL ME THE CORRECT WIN 8.

If you are the system admin, of which organisation and which KMS server do you use? anyway do a slmgr.vbs -dlv from elevated prompt to see KMS details...I DID THAT. I WILL DO IT AGAIN AND ATTACH IT. SEE IF IT MAKES SENSE TO YOU. I AM NOT AT THAT COMPUTER TODAY.

PS the OEM issue you mention is totally a different issue -YES I KNOW THIS. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOLD THE WIN 8 PRO 64 BIT OEM. DELL MAKES THEM. THE MS SALES PERSON SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME TO PURCHASE IT FROM THEM AND THEN I WOULD NOT BE IN THIS MESS.

if your PC came with Windows 8 factory installed IT WOULD GO BACK TO WINS 7 HOME PREM 64 BIT.

you can re-install from the recovery partition NO I DO WISH TO DO THAT. REALLY I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS FROM DELL. NOT MS. ALL THEY DO IS DO THE SALE AND THAT IS IT.

and the system will activate automatically with the BIOS key for the edition it is licenced for. WELL YES YOU WOULD THINK SO. BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT IS HAPPENING. IT DID THE FIRST TIME. I FEEL THAT THEY HAVE MADE MANY ENEMIES WITH THIS. I AM SLOWLY GOING OVER TO LINUX. THANKS. PIA

P.s. This command is invalid. All i received were commands to follow. I feel i was sold a kms verison of win 8 pro when at the very least i should have been sold the retail version.

OMG...You bought a Win8 Pro VL from M$? Seriously, you got to be kidding me!

    So let's get this straight...
    1. Buy a Dell laptop with Win7 HP pre-installed = OK
    2. Upgrade to Ultimate = OK
    3. Buy window 8 Pro with VL key from MS = Not OK ( the ISO is freely available as is the key...Why would they sell that?!)
    4. Activated for 6 months = Not OK (how did you activate initially?)
    5. Deactivated after 6 months = OK ( That's how KMS works - you have a 180 day threshold before having to reactivate with a KMS server again)
    6. Come here and SHOUT at me... = not OK
    7. Unable to run the simplest of commands.. being a system admin and all.. = not OK

    .. C'mon dude!

It's no use getting angry with us - we had nothing to do with your problems in their genesis.
It sounds to me as if you've had malware that has removed the Product Key from the system, resulting in it falling back on the default KMS Key.

The only way out of it is to reformat and reinstall the original Windows 7 and re-upgrade with the MS Key and download.
