    Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses (0x80070490)

    Hi.

    I have (also according to Windows Control Panel > Installed Updates) successfully installed KB2919355 on 13th Apr 2014. So to me, the KB2919355 is in place (and various KB installations after that, too) <- I do get all the Windows System updates (including security updates) BUT not Windows Store application updates.

    So the problem is the "Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490" which pops into Windows Event log on daily basis.

    TEMPORARILY
    fix: running Windows update troubleshooter fixes the problem (it stops and restarts BITS and Cryptographic services) and after a while I get a notification to the Windows Store Tile that there are new updates (if any). BUT after rebooting Windows the problem (Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490) always re-appears in the Event logs.

    Here is the report of successfull Windows update troubleshooter.

    Also:

    1) running DISM does not help (see below)
    2) Going to Store settings and "Sync licenses" does not help

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth ->

    [==========================100.0%==========================]
    The component store is repairable.
    The operation completed successfully.

    Then run:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth ->

    [==========================100.0%==========================]
    The restore operation failed. Either the repair source was not found or the comp
    onent store cannot be repaired.

    Error: 0x800f081f

    DISM failed. No operation was performed.
    For more information, review the log file.

    The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

    Here is my DISM log file.

    Hello TJ,

    See if clearing the Store cache and manually syncing the app licenses for the Store may help.

    Hi Brink,

    Unfortunatelly those do not fix the problem -> again same error in Event log.

    So still waiting for solution(s) for this

    Are you having any issues with the Store other than what's recorded in the Event log?

    Are you able to manually check for and install any app updates in the Store?
    For now, you might go through these listed troubleshooting steps.

    Hi,

    1) No not other issues than the one in my Event viewer (-> leads to a situation that no updates detected from Store).
    2) Yes I am able to manually check and install updates from the store.
    3) The additional troubleshooting steps did not bring any further help, unfortunately.

    So there is only a TEMPORARILY fix: running Windows update troubleshooter fixes the problem (it stops and restarts BITS and Cryptographic services) and after a while I get a notification to the Windows Store Tile that there are new updates (if any). BUT after rebooting Windows the problem (Windows Store failed to sync machine licenses. Result code 0x80070490) always re-appears in the Event logs.

    No glue...

    Since you have no issues with using the Store or updating apps from the Store, it may just be a temporary glitch when it's unable to at the moment.

    Hi.

    Absolutely it's not temporary, those errors in Event log have been there for 7+ weeks now. Something is broken and Windows update troubleshooter is able to fix it TEMPORARILY.

    Since the Store works fine for you other than the logs in event viewer, I'm not sure what else to suggest other than possibly to refresh Windows.

    I have done that (refreshing Windows) earlier already and will not do it again...

    There is an interesting discussion (still not solved) now on-going @ [W8.1 Update 1] "Windows Store failed to sync machine - Microsoft Community

    Thx a lot for your contribution so far!

    Since you say that the Windows Update troubleshooter temporarily helps by resetting those services, see if using OPTION THREE below to completely reset Windows Update may help.
