Having two Toshiba laptops, one ran through automatic soomthly (U500-17E),
the other one Satellite C855(64bit) ran into a rollback. In 'installed update' 5 kb's where in status wait for reboot.
I then did a reset to recovery point-5-may last received and installed release.
Did the same as @JohnBurns, 1 by 1 using the sequence order of the U500-17E machine, and rebooting after every kb,
2926765, 2965065, 2955164(optional not installable-rollback), 2931358, 2954879, 890830, 2958262, 2953522, -
2956575 (not installable-rollback), 2931366, 2939153, 2950153, 2957151, 2920189.
Then tried the 2965575 once more, again rollback.
=== as found in MS community id did ======
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (one storepoint repaired)
sfc /scannow (100% ok)
msdt.exe -ep WindowsHelp -id WindowsUpdateDiagnostic (said i have issues in my Update Database)
=== further research revealed ===(14-5-2014)
by renaming the c:\windows Update.log-file the msdt return with 100% health, leading to the conclusion that msdt
is running through a logifile to determine your issues !!!???

=== new update ===(19-5-2014)
tried the options of @brink,
also directions given by MS-community
clean-boot -- didnot help
I am open for suggestions.

I have hidden both 2955164 and 2956575 kb's.
And wait and see.

The SPP Installer is failing with ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED. I suspect it is caused by your anti-virus. Based on your filterlist.log, it looks like you are using Norton's/Symantec antivirus. Ensure that it is the latest version, and/or disable/uninstall it temporarily and try the installation again.

@troy6
I cant imagine it is the Norton, as i tried with clean boot and all non-ms services disabled.

I am thinking my whole file system Security is messed up.
Is there a tool with wich a correct ownership/access can be set for the "windows" environment,
registry-key's settings.(paid or unpaid)

How did you perform the "clean boot." It may not be Norton's, but it usually is an interfering anti-virus or security product. Norton's has several filter drivers, and if you didn't disable them all, it could still be interfering with the update. In your case it is the Licensing Advanced Installer that is being blocked from performing its function. The Advanced Installer runs in a security context that gives it full access to the system (it runs with Trusted Installer's privilege), so it generally shouldn't be caused by a ownership/access issue on a file.

I don't know specifically what the Licensing Advanced Installer is attempting to do in your case, because the log isn't that detailed.

Just to be sure, lets check your ACLs on the files and directories involved. Execute the following from an elevated cmd prompt and paste the output here.

@troy6
As requested a zipped "huge" application.evtx
In it you'll see what i was writing about... something wanting to stop the "Defender"
which i am NOT using as I am using NORTON.

In the mean time i tried an Install with a clean booted system... to no avail either.

That was no help.

When you perform a "Clean boot", are you running msconfig and selecting: "Diagnostic Startup, Load basic devices and services only", or what?

@troy6,
that was prior to the real trial. (I nearly had a heart attack there).
A bit further on there must be the real trial with clean boot MSservices loaded, no-Norton, no-3-party-applications.

@troy6,
I have been looking around, and found that the error code i'm getting could refer to a problem with a recovery-image.
Now as i looked anto my "failing" laptop, i saw a disk-partition D: with an install.wim file of over 18GB.
Creation date was well before me buying the computer with the requist to install a valid-licensed windows 8.1
which was done by the computer shop at 5-Dec-2013.
I collected the computer at 1 of February 2014.
Furthermore the installing of a new release in Windows seems to consist of two phases per "installed -file",
phase 1 is putting the new-file at the correct location for **interactive** usage and placing a compressed-version
either in parallel with the **interactive** version OR in a WIM file with purpose of usage at moment of recovery.

Can it be my problem is to be sought in this direction ??
Is there a possibility to "deflate"this environment ...
Awaiting your view on this subject,
Regards, leonhard.

The failure is still coming from SPPInstaller in the same place as before. Can you copy "c:\windows\system32\winevt\logs\Microsoft-Windows-CodeIntegrity%4Operational.evtx" to your OneDrive share please?

SPPInstaller failures wouldn't have anything to do with the restore partition, which is what you are looking at. That partition is there to restore the computer back to the original factory install.
