Solved Windows Update Does Install Updates

Hi Ive been having this problem for a while with windows update ever since i did the 8.1 update. It no longer installs the updates, it appears to download them and then gets stuck at this screen.

Does anyone know how to solve this so updates will install?

It might be a bit tedious but try installing them one by one and see where it get's stuck. Jump over it and try that same one later.

No luck, they all seem to hang.

From the elevated command prompt:

1. Run: chkdsk c: /r =====> This might take a while to complete.
2. dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
3. sfc /scannow
4. Delete everything under: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
5. Try to run Windows Updates again.

NOTE: for step 3, You might have to run it multiple times until you get a message stating no integrity violation

I tried to run the commands and all i get for all of them is the black DOS looking screen pop up and close after a split screen with no dialog. I then deleted that folder with no luck

You have to start an elevated Command Prompt. From the start screen, type CMD and right click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator". Then follow Topgundcp's steps, one at a time.

After following your instructions I am able to install updates again Thanks heaps.
