Update Error - KB2862335

Good Evening all,

I am having major problems with windows update and have been for a while now. Before it didn't really affect anything, but now I want to install W8.1 its getting in the way (I believe).

Attached are screen prints of before and after trying to download the oldest update (Security Update for Windows
8 for x64-based Systems (KB2862335). The download gets to 10% before failing and the second screen print is what I am presented with.




Any help or ideas would be much appreciated, I am half computer literate so I apologise now if I ask some stupid questions.

Here is the Microsoft generic fix for this error message.

HI..I had same hassles getting this to install so this is what I did.
open Command prompt in admin mode.
Ran the dism commands to check image health and then the restore command to repair.THEN
I downloaded the Windows Update repair tool and ran both the options you get THEN
I installed the 355 update which Windows claimed wasn't successful but in fact was.
It's in the list of updates that are installed in my OS and it no longer shows in Windows update.

Try the update through Windows Update again. Microsoft released an updated KB2862355 that fixes many of the problems.
