DVD rippers -- want ALL subtitles

    Hi there

@mods - made an error - this is in the wrong section - can you move this thread please to software - thanks)

does anybody know of some DVD ripping software that rips ALL the subtitles from a DVD. (I don't care if it's paid or free).

The one's I've tried - for example Winx DVD give you ONE selectable subtitle -- I want the lot.

Any suggestions -- note I need the Ripping software as I want to play these on ipads / phones etc. I already can make .ISO "clones" of the original DVD with AnyDVD. I want to create mp4/mkv type files - reasonable quality output.

(Handbrake works and is free - but while I'm OK at using it it's a bit complicated for some of my other colleagues and I'm too old these days to sit down and explain all these things !!!! -- Happens to all of us -- "Tempus Fugit..").

    Thanks.

    Cheers

I'm pretty sure that a long time ago when I was ripping DVD's that I used DVD Fab Decrypter along with DVD Shrink and I had the option to bring all of the subtitles or none of the subtitles.

    Hi there

@mods ( somehow posted in wrong section -- should be in Software - not Windows activation)

I've already got the .ISO files (de-regionalized and de-crypted on to HDD with AnyDVD) -- I rarely get physical DVD's any more - but sometimes someone gives me a physical DVD / BLu Ray thing which I Immediately create the ISO for.

This works fine on a computer (keeps menus, all audio tracks and subtitles) but I'd like to stream some of these to other devices like Smartphones, tablets, TV's or even other computers.

Converting to mkv / M4v/mp4 seems the most compatible - however the "Paid" Software seems to be a bit of a swindle --they advertise you can rip ALL the subtitle tracks --however when you actually try it - you only get the option of adding ONE subtitle track.

While Handbrake takes a bit longer in ripping -- I can set up a load of stuff to run in Batch overnight and do it all for my colleagues, you can add as many or as few subtitles as you want (and audio tracks too if you so wish).

That's an advantage of keeping your DVD's in ISO copies on HDD -- you can then add as many in the queue as you want without having to load physical DVD's and the whole thing can run totally in Batch for as long as it takes. Just a pain to set it all up to start the process though - but with FREE software you can't have everything.

I've got about 400 - 600 DVD's to convert -- I'd like to keep essentially English and Icelandic subtitles where they exist (on about 80% of the DVDs).

So it seems the OPen Source FREE software can be functionally BETTER by far than the PAID for stuff in some cases -- Handbrake seems to be one of these.

So gone back to HANDBRAKE -- fortunately the other stuff like WINX DVD ripper and PAVTUBE I was able to try without buying.

The Linux version also seem to do the conversion for the same set of parameters a bit faster around 7% -- testing on REAL machines (not VM) with reasonably identical characteristics. Might not be hugely different - but worth it for 400 - 500 Rips. !!!

    So I'll mark as Solved.

Scrshot -- Handbrake running on OPENSUSE 13.1

    Cheers

Hi there. I'd advise people NOT to buy Nero 2014 for their video editing program -- While it has lots of nice features I'm amazed that it does NOT enable you to add Subtitles. It's amazing when Free programs like Handbrake do and a professional so called polished program omits this really basic...
