Keys are edition specific... editions are key sensitive.. thus dependant on the edition, you can swap keys.. Windows Enterprise is a Volume licence edition and thus will only accept gVLK's/MAK's, whereas Core and Pro (including the new Coreconnected (with Bing) and StudentProfessional(for Education) versions will accept either.
