Some updates were not installed

I am experiencing the same issue, COMPUTIAC, in both a Parallels VM on my Apple laptop and in an install on my desktop. Both have the same error message that you have showing for DISM Restorehealth.

I have tried a refresh install after setting a custom recovery image to no avail. I am currently trying a repair install to see if that helps clear it. Like in your situation, all other updates went through fine. Neither the VM nor the desktop install utilize UEFI so unfortunately it is not an issue with Secure Boot that others have been able to solve.

Thank's taliesinangelus for the info. I thought I was the only one with this problem.
I think I have exhausted all my option so far. If I have to resort to doing a repair install and have to then reinstall all my programs and everything else, I would rather do a clean install.

The problem then is since there is no ISO's available, I would have to buy a retail version and go from there.
I have never had a problem like this before while trying to install updates.

Please post back with your results.

Thank's for the link. I don't remember if I read it already.
It look's like it only pertains to a retail version key.
My Lenovo has OEM 8.1 with the key in the BIOS only, this is why my choice in post #12.
Expensive choice but don't know of any other way at this point.

EDIT: If you look at the last page for the tutorial it shows there is no way to use a OEM key.

Dang - no OEM key huh .... I wonder how you get what you need then for that. Contact Microsoft or Lenovo (or both)?

Repair install removed all Windows Updates (as expected) so I am in the process of carefully applying updates now.

Good news, COMPUTIAC: the repair install worked! I followed these instructions: Repair Install Windows 8

It took a while for all the updates to come through but I ran all of them before the dreaded 800+Mb one that was the main problem.

Great, I'm glad you have everything taken care of now.
What did you use for the installation media ?

I went thru Lenovo already and did not make any progress so far.

I read the tutorial in the link and not sure it will work for me. I posted there on the last page anyway, so have to wait for a response.

Well it will not work, have to do either a refresh or reset which would make me lose a lot.
If this is the case, then I rather do a clean install. The only way to do it is to get a retail copy as all the ways I try to get a ISO will not work with a OEM key.
    Wonderful !

For my laptop VM it was Windows 8.1 Enterprise so I got a physical copy from the System Administrator in the office. Worked like a charm. For home, I had to follow the directions in the repair install instructions to get an ISO. I originally only had it as an upgrade install of Windows 7 so I had to follow the instructions to the letter. I am to the point of running updates now to see if it fixed the component store.

OK, so you got a new key when you paid for the upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8 ?
This is the key you had to use to get the ISO also ?

The component store is where I think I still have a problem and DISM Restorehealth could not repair it.
So if no one else comes up with an alternative then I guess I have to bite the bullet and get a retail copy.
I could call Lenovo and get a set of Repair Disk's for $59. but it will still put in all the original bloatware with it and all my installed programs will be lost.

I did start a thread on the Lenovo forums but still have not received any substantial replies.
