My PC keeps nagging me to install the Visual Studio C++ security update KB2467173. It fails every time. I ran the Windows diagnostic cab file which tells me there are one or more corrupt files but offers no other help. SFC /scannow says the same thing and says it can't fix the corrupt files. I really don't want to re-install Windows and don't have a convenient restore point. Is there any way for me to simply reinstall the C++ runtime components? I see various files on the Microsoft website and am not sure which ones might work. I'd sorta like to avoid making things worse. I'm running Windows 8.1 x64 Pro.
