Can't Change Windows update setting in windows 8.

I have a windows 8 64-bit single language and i changed the windows update settings. Now i want to change it back but can't because it shows.


'some settings can only be changed by the admin".

Iam the system admin and there are no other accounts o my p.c.

Hello rockstar, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Please export the two WindowsUpdate registry keys below from your PC as .reg files, and upload them here. I'll be happy to take a look at them to see if it's a group policy setting that's responsible, and hopefully will be able to post back with a .reg file to undo it.


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

Shawn, just a FYI: When I query those registry keys on my Windows 8 X64 system, neither are found.

Hey Rich,

They would only be there if a group policy was set for them. If so, posting the exported .reg files for those keys would reveal which policy was set.

I don't have access to gpedit with this version of Windows 8. Guess I should have gotten Pro.
