Best Tool for Offline Update Installs?

    Hi all

Iam looking for the best program that will let me:

    1) download all 'Critical Updates' - 'Security Hotfixes' - 'Important updates' (not so bothered about 'recommended updates' but would be nice)

    2) put this product on a fast USB stick

    3) use USB stick too bring brand new win7/8/8.1 machines up to date so less downloading updates over our "almost dead" network which is so slow it can take hours upon hours just on checking lol..

once applied this means the 'majority' of updates are installed and only need to search for a few 3rd party ones like GFX, Audio, Wifi etc...making the process a lot quicker

I have looked at WSUS but this applies Critical and Security only... not Important and Recomended

also Portable Update seems to only download updates for the version of windows its running on.. meaning I would need 7/8/8.1 installs to run 3 separate copies off...

if anyone can help that would be great thanks

thanks, but the website only loads in IE which is fine... but offers nothing but a link to FAQ/HELP . and empty page with a globe on it?

    cheers

oh also, Portable Update requires 32 and 64 bit versions of windows to be installed...

so if i wanted to use it on win7/8/8.1 i would need SIX installs too run it in to grab the updates and use that way

On the page with globe, in the right upper corner, type in what you are looking for. Example ( windows7, windows 8. Hot fixes and so on. When you get the list, select what you want and add to basket.

sorry to be ignorant lol... but where does it 'add' these updates? if its to USB are they all installable in one click automatically? or do you have to run each update on its own>?

    thanks

    Hello snadge,

Usually, you'll get a pop-up to install an add-on, then close and reopen IE to be able to use the Microsoft Update Catalog site.

If you like, here's another option that you can use to download the MSU file for each Windows Updates that can be used to install each of them.

Windows Update - Download Standalone MSU Installer File - Windows 7 Help Forums

    Hope this helps.
