After updating to Windows 8.1, my PC is unable to restart with the following message displayed:

1) Preparing automatic repair
2) Diagnosing your PC
3) Your PC did not start correctly

Here I am given 2 options:
a) Restart
b) Advanced Options.

Option (a) will keep me in the same loop. I have tried most of the options in (b) but nothing works out. The only extra clue I got is when I go to Startup Settings and select option 9)" Disable automatic restart after failure" from which an additional message was displayed:

error: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

I did not make any backup beforehand and now I'm hoping to restore to my previous setting without losing any files/data. Or it would be even better I could solve the problem without any restoration.

Please help. I cannot access to the Windows start-up anymore, not even in Safe Mode.

The best way if you can gain access to another computer is to get a ISO copy of Windows 8, put it to the USB with Microsoft Store

Then use the repair tool built into Windows 8.

Before attempting another upgrade which should not be a problem since your computer is so new remember to:

1) Check and Install latest Windows Updates.

2) Check for Firmware updates

3) No external devices plugged in during the install

4) Consider doing a clean boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

I upgraded my PC from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.

The link to Microsoft Store is for Windows 7. Can you provide a new link where I can get the ISO copy of Windows 8?

Thanks.

Yes and if you scroll down "1." provides a link to the tool you need to be able to put the ISO on the USB and make it boot, I know it says Windows 7 but it will work on Windows 8, Trust me I am not giving you the wrong tools.

Here is link, I think it is enterprise but it should still have repair tool built in

[DEL]I've downloaded the necessary file but now I'm stuck in the how 'To make a copy of your Windows 7 ISO file:' stage, in particular stage 2) In the SOURCE FILE box, type the name and path of your Windows 7 ISO file, or click BROWSE and select the file from the OPEN dialog box. Click NEXT.

How or where do I locate the ISO file?[/DEL]

I'm now downloading the ISO file.

When I tried to run the setup in the USB to install Windows 8 in the command prompt, I got the following message:

Compatibility Report:

The computer started using the Windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that Windows start normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. [Do not select ICustom [advanced]l to perform an upgrade. ICustom[Advanced]I installs a new copy of Windows and deletes your program and settings.]

Would appreciate if you could tell me what to do next. Thanks.
