Reduce time for windows to automatically install?

By default the time for my laptop to restart after installing updates is 2 days! Can I reduce this time so that my laptop will restart when the update is done whilst I am out?

    Thanks in advance.

Two days? After installing what updates and how many of them? I've never encountered such an issue before. Please provide some more specific detail.

    Depends how long you're out.

2 days: That's the default to what Windows will do if Hybrid Boot is enabled or if you don't turn your pc off ever.

You can choose to install the updates during automatic maintenance and other settings.

Sometimes a restart is still inevitable.
If you manually restart then it will install the updates right away and you don't need to wait 2 days.
