    8.1 and updates


    it seems that when there is an updates for 8.1
    i just want to d/l 1 update at a time that it does all of them is it me
    or does anyone else have that problem(not really a problem per se)
    i just like to install 1 update at a time

    I just tested and you can install only one update at a time if you uncheck all updates and then select only one. First, click the "important updates available" link and see images below:

    Rebooted and checked again.

    It works!

    thanks but i did i guess when i leave the computer for awhile the others get updated by auto update

    Hello njnitehawk,

    Unless you have a real slow internet connection (ex: dial up), then it's usually fine to install the Windows Updates that are automatically selected by default, and continue on like this until none are selected to install them one or few at a time.

    If you have your Windows Update settings set to automatically install updates, then Windows will eventually install all important and recommended updates other than "optional" updates. Any wanted optional updates will still need to manually installed, so it would be best to check for updates every so often.
    Windows Updates are normally issued every second Tuesday of each month from Microsoft.
