Solved How to find out if the software is activated

I have WIN8 pro and the Windows 8 Media Center Pack installed. I am a new Windows user. I received a reminder saying "This is a reminder that you must activate your free Windows 8 Media Center Pack product key** by January 31, 2013".
I do not know if this is just a general reminder or it is only send to user who has not activated the software. I want to be sure that my software is activated.
My general question here is "How to find out if the software that I installed is already activated ?" Is there a general place (a file or registry entry) where I can check ?

Dude I have exactly the same email, and exactly the same question. I'll bet there will be a lot of people getting that same email and reporting the same problem.
Trying to get help from the Microsoft site is like wrestling a greased weasel

Hi, To check activation start Control Panel, Click on system and Security, Click on System, Click on View details on windows activation. The following screen will give your windows activation.

I got the same email and went into Win8, only to find out that I had, as suspected, already activated using the WMC code. My guess is that they are sending this email to everyone who did the WMC download.

Its a stupid email.
You would have thought they would have pointed out that WMC downloaders may not need to do anything, and/or given basic instructions to check whether you have the software licence activated or not.

Its a lesson in how to quickly give a large number of users the run around for no good reason.
