Windows 8 Upgrade Offer

Hello all. First time post. Thanks for having me. In the last few months I have received a considerable amount of email messages from Microsoft reminding me to take advantage of their $14.99 Win 7 to Win 8 Pro offer. I tried using the provided promo code(s) on one or more occasions but am having a very difficult time completing the upgrade. I was wondering if I was the only one or not. Thank you. Peter

I've upgraded a machine using the promo code and had no problems at all.

I think many people have been able to use the promo code successfully.

Can you say a bit more about the problems you're having? For instance
- what steps have you gone through?
- are you getting some sort of error message, and if so what is it?
- could you post a screenshot of the problem?

Have you checked on your OEM manufacturer's web site for there Upgrade Adviser.

I think you may need advice from someone more knowledgeable than me... but my understanding is that
* the 14.99 upgrade only applies if you bought a Windows 7 PC from 2 June 2012 (and before 31 Jan 2013 which obviously isn't an issue yet)
* the upgrade process was changed to check your Windows 7 Product Key is recent (don't know how it checks that, given your PC may have sat on a shelf in a store for some months before you got it).

Did you get to the point where you entered a product key? If not, then what purchase date did you enter on the form?

I entered December 23, 2012 as the purchase date. And, I never get to the point where I am asked to enter a product ID. I will be contacting Microsoft today. It appears that this is an issue that is affecting many people. Most likely due to the volume of requests. Thank you all for your time and assistance. Peter

Hey guys I had to register to ask that is this normal as I entered my mce key to that add feactures box and it installed media center to my mothers computer, next think that I did was to check my activation state and it showed that windows was not activated.
So I pressed that more info box and there that activate windows box, it started that operation but then it says that there was a broplem and activation failed.
Still it sed at that window where was that add feactures and windows version info tehere it sed that windows was activated.
After several reboots it has not sed that windows is not activated so I want to know is this normal or sought I contact microsoft.
Licenses for windows 8 and mce are from microsoft and they are those 14,99€ licenses.
