Win 8 64x Update failure

I received the MSI GX60 yesterday and while using it for the 2nd day, my computer restarted in order to complete updating windows 8. However this update was interrupted by the laptop suddenly shutting down. I then proceeded to use the F3 recovery function to restore Windows to factory settings, but again as with the update, the laptop abruptly shut down. Now I can log into windows, but a lot of the components and system files seem to be missing and it doesn't look the same as when I first used it. I tried to repeat the F3 recovery option again, but after I press the button to initiate the reset, I just get stuck at a blank screen. This might be due to the actual recovery files being missing due to the abrupt shut down I mentioned earlier.

I waited for the new laptop for 1 and a half months to get shipped to me (due to various reasons) and was looking forward to playing some new games on it. But it had to mess up on the second day haha, so I'd really appreciate any help you guys could offer. Thanks.

When you say "abruptly shut down" do you mean it just switched off instantly?

If so, that sounds like a hardware problem. You may have to return it, which sounds like it might be difficult, but if the hardware is bad, it's bad..

Yeah, it switched off instantly. I did update my VGA drivers yesterday which is probably the only hardware change I made, if any. It ran without a hitch though.
