Solved Canon Printer Update Repeats

There is an update delivered by Windows Update to my Canon MG3100 printer that is reselected even though it is applied. This update, which doesn't have a number, just says 'Canon - Printers - Canon MG3100 series printer'. I have installed this update three times and it is still pulled down thru Windows Update. Anyone else have this problem?

If you like, you could hide the Windows Update to not have it listed in Windows Update anymore until a new version is released.

What I did was remove the printer from devices, and then install the software directly from canon's site. Then updates no longer appear in windows update...

When you reinstall the printer to use it the Windows Update doesn't pull updates for the printer?

Right, when installing windows 8, it automatically installs the printer, and then has a bunch of updates it wants from windows update... which at times are problematic.

What I have done to fix it is; go into control panel / devices / remove the printer. Then install the software from canon's website directly, not the stuff offered from microsoft.

Once you install this, there is no updates, that is the most up to date / best working software. Done...
