Hi,

I have to deactivate the product key of Windows 8 pro that I bought from one laptop and install it onto other computer. How do I deactivate the pro version over the plain version of win 8.

Thanks.

You will need to do a clean install of Windows 8 HP.

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

You can order OEM Recovery disks from your OEM manufacturer's website.

Thank you. It was easier than I expected. I had to use the activate wizard on the new laptop that comes built in Windows 8 . They activated the second copy of Windows8 pro on the new laptop. I have to see if I can get their help to deactivate it from the older laptop before I return it back to the manufacturer.

Thanks for your advice any way!

Simply reformat the drive - there is no deactivation process for Windows.
