I just a few hours ago updated my Samsung R530 and it would not work again. I tried first to System Restore that did not work. Then I tried system image recovery, that did not work. Now trying windows eight fresh install that hasn't worked either. What can I do? The synaptics don't work neither does the keyboard. I am also having trouble logging on to eightforums and now my mouse and keyboard are playing up on this computer...Darn it! I say!
Anyway back to the laptop. How do I fix it?

Might be simplest just to boot the install media and do a clean installation.

It might be possible to fix it another way - hard to tell from your description.

In what way didn't system restore work - what happened - what was the message?

In what way could you not restore the system image?

The restore of the image worked perfectly. The synaptics and keyboard don't work that's all.

Does Device manager give you any clues?

Might be you need to reinstall the oem specific drivers - have a nosy round the oem website.

It is still not clear - I am having to guess that you made an image ( no idea what with ) of your win7 partition - before you attempted an in-place upgrade to win8?

Was that before or after you downloaded the upgrade media?

Or maybe you have a shop bought copy - who knows?

The image is of windows eight prior to crash. I am trying to reinstall a fresh copy of windows eight again as the first try cancelled due to lack of battery (I was busy doing something else to notice) I have a feeling that a fresh install will not work either. How do I install OEM drivers and from where? Samsung R530 laptop.

If they are not supporting your model - tough luck , I am afraid.

You could try win7 drivers and see.

Tried fresh install it works. Then I tried system image recovery to get my original settings but to no avail it wont work anymore...
So a fresh install it is! Why has the update rendered my computer and backup useless. If I can't use windows 8 on my laptop what was the point of MS checking to see if my computer was ok to use it?

The only explanation I can give for this happening is that when it found that I had Windows media player classic on the Hard drive that it killed my OS. I have just found that WMPC is not supported on Windows 8.
