Wrong Product Key?

Hi there. I installed Windows 8 pro a few days ago, with the OEM/Full Version. Today I used two different winkey finders; they come up with the same windows key, but it is totally different from what I entered and from the sticker. Weird... The only thing that matches in each case is the Product ID that Windows has in the registry. Is there a problem with my installation? When I right click on My Computer, it just says Windows is activated and it shows the product ID, which indeed corresponds to the Product ID on the Packaging Label. Also, Windows 7 would also have a logo saying 'ask for Genuine Microsoft' or something like that. My Windows 8 does not show that. Thanks for your help.

Was this the systembuilder OEM install, or did you install Windows 8 from OEM discs from a computer manufacturer on a new system?

I did not install Mediacenter. This was a systembuilder OEM Install from a disk purchased at Newegg.

Hi gallicbear...
The product key finders usually won't work.
Anyway, you wont need your product key once you install and activate windows with it and hence windows won't show it to prevent the key to be used on another computer for piracy.

Thank you, SDhamija, for your response. Interesting... I even tried the key finder on other Windows 7 machines. Wrong number. I won't worry any more.
