By default, Windows 8 requires you to enter your product key number during installation to activate it. If you have a Windows 8 installed on your computer, then it should already be activated. What happened for why your copy isn't activated?
You could use the tutorial below to enter you product key number to activate Windows 8 online.
You can use the same method in the tutorial below for Windows 7 to activate Windows 8 by phone.
