Silly Question... What's an upgrade liscense?

I have downloaded the upgrade offer for 25 to take my Win7HomePremium PC (Medion OEM) to Win8Pro. I got the product key and am installing it now. I read on MS's website that "* Offer valid from October 26, 2012 until January 31, 2013 and is limited to five upgrade licenses per customer. To install Windows 8 Pro, customers must be running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.".

Does this mean I can use the same product key on my wife's laptop (HP OEM Win7 Home Premium) too?

No, you can use the key on one computer. To upgrade another computer you have to buy another key.

You can buy 5 keps at the discount price. After that, you have to pay the full price for the OEM/System Builder license.

but then how does Microsoft know it's the same person buying 5 licences?

Very Interesting, thanks guys. I'll probably use the discount 4 more times to help out my mum and dad, and two brother's aging Win Vista laptops.

Now my fiance has a laptop that she bought last month that also needs to go upto Win8 and is in the offer time period of 'june 2012-present' where you can upgrade for 15 instead of the 25 I paid. She doesn't have any kind of slip of paper or coupon when she got her laptop, how can I go about applying for that for her?

F***! I was afraid of this when I finally found the old thread. I done goofed, and overwrote my old Windows installation on this laptop, and tried tried to install Windows 8 Pro using the product key from my old PC (worked for installation, but not activation). Apparently the going rate for a new product key is 189, which is robbery.

I don't suppose anyone could help me restore (or reinstall from scratch) the previous "windows8 32bit enterprise n" I had on this laptop, can they? I am currently in need of the .iso and product key.

No-one here can (or will) provide a Key - especially for a Volume-licensed enterprise version.

Fair enough. This laptop seems to be holding steady in it's unactivated state so far. I suppose this forces my hand somewhat in terms of picking up a new device, rather than continuing to use this old junky tester laptop. Just gotta see how much money I have left after the bills are paid, haha.
