Both the Surface RT and Pro includes a keyboard. Also, how is the iPad looking like a cheaper device when it starts at $499 and goes up to almost $900?

The Surface RT and Pro do have keyboards that come with them. RT has the touch keyboard, Pro has the clickety clacky one.

Some tablets DO have a pricey keyboard addon to them, which honestly, makes the Surface tablets better than. An 800 dollar Atom powered tablet that has an optional keyboard dock priced at 200 dollars? No deal! That there is an ultrabook, a couple hundred dollars more you have a touch enabled one!

I take back part of my earlier declaration, an Acer hybrid will cost 800 dollars, with a keyboard dock. It will be powered by either a third generation i3 or an i5. A lower end version will cost 500 dollars, no keyboard, and powered by an Atom processor.

500 dollars for a large ipod touch for middle aged people versus a tablet PC that can get legitamite work done? I see an end in sight for the ipad...

Sorry, folks, but I'm still not going there. Now if someone is selling a nice tablet (current model) at a nice price I might nibble, but when a tablet costs nearly as much as a laptop PC and has less capability I'll opt for the bigger, heavier, bulkier laptop/notebook/ultrabook/whatever-you-call-it-today.

As for an end to the iPad ... wasn't Zune going to be the end of the iPod? We saw how that one worked out.

How does the Zune have anything to do with anything?

    C'mon guys

A really great Acer 11.1 inch screen laptop can be had for around 280 GBP -- a much better deal any way whatsoever you want to look at rather than comparing tablets / smartphones etc.

We need to get "Real" here. W8 metro is an abomination for serious desk top type apps as is the "Windows app store".
No problem with this type of stuff on a smartphone -- but a PC.

    'Nuf said.

    Cheers

    It's nasty on a pc.

Tablets are what MS are aiming at.

Wih those kind of prices, I don't rate MS chances.

If the ipad mini comes in at $250 or even $299, it will kill win8 rt stone dead.

You probably saw that story a while back. The author's guess at what the eventual pricing may be seems like a good stab. I am curious if many people think Surfi will sell in decent numbers at $600 or $1000. Oem's will be slotting in wherever they can - below that mainly, I would think. ...
