Well, true, but since I got my last laptop free, I still consider it to be a heck of a deal.

Good for you, technerd! I'm glad to see you saved big bucks after shelling out for a new lappy. I mean that sincerely.

Thanks again, Dave, on the Pro edition lead.

Ok. Here's the thing. I guess this is as good a thread to ask my questions. As you can see by my specs, I have an older Acer. I'm dual booting 8 EE with 7 Ultimate. Since 8 runs absolutely great and quick on this machine I'll not need to buy new. I've got mem maxed to 2 GBs. That's fine. CPU is fine. I'm going to throw a video card and a HDD in soon. Also looking to get a touch monitor and dual monitor with existing. The new video card will have dual monitor support and I think will aid on RAM. Yes?

I want to continue to dual boot with 7 for awhile to use Office 2000 of which I need to upgrade soon. It won't load on 8, and rightfully so, for I really need to upgrade Office.

What do I need to get to cold install 8 to dual boot with 7 for awhile and eventually cold install as main OS after hardware upgrade? I'd like to purchase on disk, not download, unless it's a good ISO method.

Windows 8 version is fine for home use, if you need to dual boot for a while you will need to get the Win8 OEM Full Version.

You can move this to any computer you own, so it's good to have if you build a new computer in the next couple years.

I just bought W8 Pro OEM on disk from my local computer shop, and NO, sorry, it does not have it installed, as it was included in first batch of updates I did on the newly installed OS.

Since I bought my laptop in the past month, The Geek Squad at BB gave me Windows 8 Pro in a box for $70 and marked it down as free. It was my lucky day!
