Firefox Metro Preview for Windows 8

Today’s preview marks the beginning of Mozilla community testing for the Firefox Metro browser designed from the ground up for Windows 8.

Earlier this year, we began development on a version of Firefox that runs on x86 Windows 8. This version of Firefox runs in both the Windows 8 “classic Desktop” environment, and in the new “Metro” environment. We’ve made a lot of progress since that first development update. We’re excited to share it with you and we’re looking forward to your feedback.

It might be interesting to see how this copes with my 18 MB of Bookmarks (I'm betting it won't be pretty).

I hope that Mozilla doesn't use this as an excuse to "screw up" the desktop version. :(

Ok I'm using the Firefox preview now. It is a little too early to give a review. But I do miss some gestures present in IE Metro such as the right & left swipes to navigate through page history. But it is certainly better than the Chrome Metro browser. The Firefox version is a REAL Metro app...

One caveat, there can only be one Metro UI browser at a time. Metro uses the default browser only. To change the default browser, go into Control Panel program defaults. To use Firefox Nightly in Metro, you loose IE Metro. The same was true with Chrome. But Chrome wasn't a true Metro app, even in Metro full screen. Me thinks Firefox Metro has a good chance at out foxing IE Metro (pun intended)!

I prefer the address bar to be at the bottom of the screen as it is in IE.
