Microsoft finally comes clean(er) on post-Metro naming plans

The new official name for these Metro-style apps, according to Somasegar, is "Windows Store" apps. Rafael Rivera from Within Windows said he thought this would be the name once he looked at the Visual Studio 2012 RTM code back on August 7. Looks like Rivera was right on the money.

Terrible name. Do not get. So does Office 2013 look like it's been Windows Stored in the design or the Start Screen, is that from the Windows Store?

    What?!

    Mosaic. That is all.

What? Windows Store apps are ... Windows Store apps! Of course they are named like that.
Now, how will they name The New "modern", pre-Windows 3.1 era styled UI which killed the obsolete-by-telemetry W7 Start Menu? What was its first name again? ...wait... Hetero Gay?...No...?

My guess is that it will always be called Metro by just about everyone regardless of how many times MS changes its name.

Never thought I would say this, but Windows 8 is growing on me. I bought my copy for 40$ after a more extended trial. I still cannot see myself installing it on my work computer, but I see great potential for the OS as an entertainment pc, once some of the quirks are worked out of it. Most of my...
