Microsoft's SkyDrive storage service gets a facelift

SkyDrive, Microsoft's cloud storage service, has gotten a 'more modern' make-over.

Microsoft officials took the wraps off the latest update to SkyDrive on August 14, the day before Microsoft is set to start rolling out the official Windows 8 RTM bits to developers, IT pros and volume licensees. The changes to SkyDrive.com were detailed in a post on the new "Inside Skydrive" blog.

In addition to a new user interface for SkyDrive.com, Microsoft also has made bug fixes to Windows and Mac OS X Skydrive client apps, and is introducing a new SkyDrive for Android phone app that will be coming in "just a few weeks." The new SkyDrive.com will roll out over the next 24 hours, officials said.

Great, they painted the outside and still don't have deleted file recovery, no bandwidth throttle options and still limited to synchronizing a single folder on the root of your hard drive.

    Brink,
I went to my Host OS, Win 7, accessed Skydrive. Still the same old skydrive.
I then went to Guest OS, Win 8 RP, where I have installed Windows Live Essentials 2012, accessed my Skydrive. Also the same old skydrive.
    What gives ?
someone is pulling my legs ?

"The new Skydrive.com will roll out over the next 24 hours ..." - so my guess is that it hasn't "rolled out" to you yet, t-4-2.

It finds a " newer " skydrive version in my system ?

    I aborted the install.
I don't have the foggiest what is going on.

It is getting screwy..... ha ha ha.
I went to Host OS, Win 7, and installed the new Skydrive. It went through no problem.
A skydrive file is in my computer and when I click it, the new look of Skydrive is present.
I also have a skydrive shortcut created on the desktop long time ago. If I click that shortcut, I am looking at the old skydrive look.

    Twilight zone, alternative dimension.......

    Ok. I've got it.
The reason it says I have the newer version is because I have installed WLEssentials 2012, which unbeknown to me, includes the new Skydrive. ( The older WLE version does not include skydrive. Right ? ).
In short, I already have the new skydrive. No need to install from the link.

Like t-4-2, I figured out the new SkyDrive was from downloading WE 2012, but this is only because I coincidentally downloaded it two days ago and saw it.

As far as sharing notebooks to SkyDrive from OneNote, it's the most convoluted process. In fact, it's so convoluted I can't figure out how to do it yet. I'm connected to SkyDrive via OneNote, logged into SkyDrive online.

What has this company turned into? This is ridiculous.

Never mind, I got it. But MS is going backwards with their new stuff, really ticked off. And like pparks1 said, you can only upload one file at a time. Man of man. I don't know if this changes if you upgrade from their free service, but why would I pay these people for this service when what they're doing what they're doing with their software?

I like it! Very clean, just makes me REALLY want to see Windows Explorer (or File Explorer) have that metro look and feel to it.

I also may be considering expanding my SkyDrive storage, 50 dollars a year for 100 gigs of third party, non-partisan storage sounds tempting....
