I'll be in the same line! I thought it would start at $500 at least.

If the Surface starts at 200 or even 500 dollars, I will already be camping out in the line.

Yes. It would be a deal even at $500. I signed up on their email list on the Surface site. Anyone know the official release date?

I might buy an RT for 200 but not 500. A Surface 8 Pro for 500 would really perk my interest though.

Yes, really looking forward to seeing the prices. I expected the RT to be in the $500-$600 area and the Pro in the $800-$1,000 bracket.

Well that was the word a couple months ago when MS announced them. Very high priced (Too high). But yeah will have to wait till they actually drop. The prices on decent tablets are dropping like a rock. Both competition and glut combined are making it easy to find decent 10 in tablets in the < $300 range. I'm betting MS will have to come in cheaper than originally hinted because by then the prices might seem a bit insane.

You guys go ahead and try out the Surface tablets and find all the bugs. Then when MS fixes the bugs and releases Surface 2.0 I'll go buy one! (Well, probably not, actually.)

I won't be getting a surface for that reason and that there will be effectively zero apps for it.

/If/ the surface takes off, in a year or two with updates and app store progress it might be worth considering (for me). But if I get a tablet for xmas this year it'll be an android of some flavor.

I'm not interested in an RT version of Surface, that is for sure. The only real thing appealing about Surface for me is that it's closer to a real computer that will run normal computer apps than any other tablet device. Without being able to run my normal apps, i don't see any appeal in the Surface. I'll only consider the Surface pro at this time.

As long as I can get a decent laptop for the same price, or a nice little netbook at a better price, I won't be in the market for a Surface tablet. Surface RT won't do anything for me and Surface Pro will likely cost as much or more than a modest laptop that does a whole lot more.

Perhaps Surface Pro will actually decrease the demand for notebook computers, resulting in lower prices for notebooks: there's a nice thought.

You probably saw that story a while back. The author's guess at what the eventual pricing may be seems like a good stab. I am curious if many people think Surfi will sell in decent numbers at $600 or $1000. Oem's will be slotting in wherever they can - below that mainly, I would think. ...
