Then buy 7 if they don't like it. I don't get it. There can't be that much ignorance out there. Could there? Perhaps they already checked out 8 and don't like it, so they're eating up 7 before it's too late.
Does MS let "peasant" consumers downgrade?

Given Microsoft's stance on the "Start Menu", they are probably planning to shred all of the remaining W7 install discs to force people to buy W8.

Microsoft is about to take on tablets in a big way, first with Windows 8 and the mobile version Windows RT. The new OS combined with Microsoft's own tablets, the Surface line, can totally disrupt the tablet segment.

While new versions of Windows usually take a while to get adopted en masse, the bring your own device (BYOD) movement may accelerate that adoption. The Surface tablets are natural fits for the BYOD scenario with consumers needing a work tablet that also does fun stuff. If Microsoft plays this correctly from a pricing standpoint, the Surface and Windows 8 can shake the tablet segment like a kid clearing an Etch-a-Sketch.
Mobile space to heat up, Windows 8 may benefit from BYOD (adamus thread article find credit)

I think this guy is correct on M$s planned target.

Holy Moley..From Microsoft's own Tami Reller, Corporate Vice President of Windows: Had told partners attending Microsoft's worldwide partner conference in Toronto that Windows 8 is on track to be released to manufacturing the first week of August, and to be generally available by late October 2012. It's ALMOST here!!!
