FSeal, I think you are thinking of the datacenter edition. Even the Enterprise version is going to give us metro even though no enterprise would use it and MS thinks the enterprises won't adopt this product because of it.

Heh, yeah. The use of the word "Professional" in "Windows 8 Professional" for an OS with Metro interface set front and center I consider to be the very definition of a "misnomer"

I don't mind them charging $15 for the upgrade.

It will stop what happened with win7 - it was supposed to be free - but oem's charged between $0 and as much as $30 for "handling".

I think this is supposed to standardise that.

Unless they are going to charge "handling" in addition.

^ Well, yes, the oem's charging like that would have been bunk. I bought my OS from NewEgg and got the upgrade from MS and I think I may have paid like $7 for shipping or something....or it may have been free...i honestly don't remember.

Maybe Oxymoron would be a better term.

As long as your Win8 RP was installed as an upgrade to WinXP or Win7 to begin with then you should be fine. If you formatted your drive and installed Win8 RP CLEAN then you can't upgrade to Win8 RTM because the underlying licenses for the previous OS won't exist.

I found a Microsoft link where one can register for email notification when the $14.99 upgrade to Win8 is available. Does anyone know of a similar process to "get-in-line" for the $39.99 upgrade offer?
