    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

    A silly question ( or 2 ) from a paranoid user ....
Can I purchase the $39.99 Win8 upgrade and install in my VMware player ? I don't trust a brand new OS.
Does the upgrade has an expiry date that I have to install it within a time period ?

Oh, I will definitely buy it now.

I hope my current computer is eligible for this. It had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed at the factory and I of course, have a product key but I have since uninstalled Windows 7 and now run Windows 8 Release Preview as the sole operating system. So my question is, will I be able to upgrade to W8Pro 64 bit from my current W8RP for $39.00? If the answer is yes, I say bravo to Microsoft.

Windows 8 upgrade deals may be double-edged sword for Microsoft

Windows 8 upgrade deals may be double-edged sword for Microsoft

Microsoft could see both benefits and drawbacks from encouraging people to upgrade an existing PC to Windows 8

By offering users of Windows 7, XP and Vista discounts to upgrade to Windows 8, Microsoft is putting itself in a position to reap both benefits and criticism in the consumer operating system market.
Giving PC owners an incentive to put Windows 8 on their machines helps Microsoft because, if they upgrade, they will be less likely to switch to a competing platform such as Apple's Mac OS.

    Hi there
    C'mon guys

Whateever difficulties you might have with the cost of the product or of the currency conversion itself -- you are likely to be on the wrong side of an argument.

Here's the projected "Costs" and they seem quite reasonable to me.

40 USD is currently 49.15 EUR.

40 USD IS CURRENTLY 25.82 GBP.

What's the odds that 40 usd translates into £39.95 GBP if we have to order via microsoft UK
If that is the case I will refuse to buy it on principle and stick with 7 - I hate being ripped off

    I also think 40 usd = 32.55 Euro

I read yesterday that the upgrade can also be LEGALLY installed on top of the Windows 8 Preview version.
