    Microsoft to recall some Surface Pro power cables


    Microsoft is readying to replace power cords for its older-model Surface Pro tablets due to overheating concerns.

    As a result of damage caused by AC power cords being wound too tightly, twisted or pinched over an extended period of time, a very small proportion of Surface Pro customers have reported issues with their AC power cord. We will be releasing details of how customers can obtain a free replacement cable shortly," a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed to me today via e-mail.
    A report by Channelnomics Europe on January 19 said Microsoft would announce a voluntary recall of its AC power supplies for Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3 models sold before July 2015. That report said Microsoft would disclose this information on Friday, January 22...

Hi there Why is it on even a quite EXPENSIVE laptop these days do they make the HDD cable so FLIMSY -- on my old Sony VAIO it was easy to fit a new HDD / SSD -- the SATA connector was RIGIDLY attached to the mobo and the disk slotted straight in - no flimsy wire or ribbon connector from the HDD...
