Best Computer Cases of 2015

There was a time when computer cases were seen as nothing more than the housing for your PC. People were happy to boast about their new processor or graphics card, but the humble chassis rarely got a look in. Then things started to get interesting; cases got better, flashier and more functional. They evolved beyond mere protective outer shells and into an integral component that could complement what resided inside.

Today, the sheer number of cases available can be a bit overwhelming. To help you choose we’ve gathered impressions from our own reviews, those of other top sites and from owners' feedback, explaining what features make them stand above the rest. Here are the highest regarded cases in every category: best overall, Mini-ITX, micro ATX, HTPC, budget and top concept case...

My preference is simple, no frills, quite ATX case. I've built a dozen of systems with Antec P series case, last one being the the P183:

This case has lots of options, sound installation, dust filters, etc. The USB port, headset/mic, power and reset buttons are on the front for easy access under the desk.

This one is much more functional, and fun..... it even has a Floppy Disk slot. :)

But this has been my favorite case, for many years. It allows front access to all my removable media.
It's called the "Pac Man" case.

I really like the look of that case. Ive considered it, but havent ever went with it because I dont know how well it performs with cooling (biggest priority) and how quiet it is. How would you consider it to perform on both of those fronts? I run a Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 (IvyBridge) and a NVIDIA Gt 730 GPU and Im afraid of the setup getting too warm in a setup that doesnt have airflow like something on the order of my Antec Nine-Hundred Two.

The case is well designed for maximum airflow with a number options. In my system there are 2x120mm and 1x120mm case fans, the optional side and top panel fans are not used. The power supply has its own compartment, separated from the motherboard and everything in general. The temperatures of the CPU and GPU are reasonable in W8.1 with average office type of work:

cgpu.jpg

The CPU has a Noctua heatsink with 2x120mm fans, while the GPU has stock heatsink and fan(s)[really don't remember how many].

The same system with W7 has about the same temperature with office type of work. Firing up Black Ops online game pushes the CPU temperature to around 55 degree Celsius, while the GPU temperature is around 60 degree Celsius.

Most, if not all noise comes from the GPU that isn't OC-d. The level of noise is low and does not change, the fans are wired for constant speed. If the PC is intended to be strictly Office PC, no video card is installed. In that system the CPU temperature is pretty much the same as above, but practically no noise comping from the PC. In total silence it can be heard, but the average office noise drowns out the PC noise.
