microsoft-reinvents-the-wheel-with-windows-8

Generally speaking, I like Microsoft Corp. MSFT -0.41% and what it has done. Over the years, I’ve even supported the idea that Microsoft’s Bob interface was mismarketed and actually was unique and interesting.

That said, Windows 8 looks to me to be an unmitigated disaster that could decidedly hurt the company and its future.

This opinion is based on using the new release candidate beta that is pretty much what will finally ship after some bug fixes.

Windows 8 is terrible on the desktop.

I have however used it on a tablet, and it was a joy to use. It's such a shame that they're ignoring the majority of their users.

To me, Windows 8 is a joy to use on the desktop AND on a tablet. I find myself wanting to navigate like in Win 8 when I am at work where we use Win 7. I just like the why of navigating much better.
If you take your time to get used to the new way of navigating and the new Start Menu (Or Start Screen), I'll bet you'll like it :)

I'm using a Windows 7 tablet in work, and really looking forward to upgrading to the final version of Windows 8 :)

Touch is better for handheld devices, I personally would like to try Windows 8 on a tablet as well however, not on the Desktop if you are doing a lot of professional work that requires a lot of typing and navigating, like spreadsheets, making huge documents, Photoshop... touch can be more exhausting on the arms compared to typing and using a mouse.

You will notice those of us who are not keen on Win8 are not offended by those who do like it.

We might feel they are misguided, however they are entitled to their opinion.

We do not call their opinions rubbish.

I get the feeling this guy didn't give 8 a fair analysis and/or is afraid of change. Probably is undisciplined to learn something new, although he is correct about his business productivity statement. I'm a believer that there should be a choice which interface is default at startup. M$ developed 8 for application across multiple devices, which is the market trend. They will make $ with this as they always have on other OSs and other software. Still tops in the software business if one reads profit charts. (Most profit margins are on a down trend due to our lovely world economy) Overall, I'm glad I don't listen to this guy on investments. No, I'm not affiliated with M$ or any company other than my building business....Just a enthusiast.

Imagine this scenario:

1. I put $10k in your bank account.

Your bank account has changed.

You will probably like it.

2. I take $10k out of your bank account.

Your bank account has changed.

You will probably not like it.

That is nothing to do with me - it is your fault because you are afraid of change.

lol - but what about the other way around?

1. I take $10k out of your bank account.

Your bank account has changed.

You will probably not like it.

2. I put $10k in your bank account.

Your bank account has changed.

You will probably still not like it.

Once you feel that you have something taken away from you, then even if it is eventually returned to you, you still feel cheated, deprived and will not trust me (ever?) because I did that.
