Windows 8 upgrade offer

I am still hoping for the heavily discounted offer like they done with W7 :)

If they do!

Having looked at the release preview, I'll be surprised if there is not a discount option.

Would be nice if they have an offer similar to the $50 upgrade just prior to release.
The price should be a bit less ;)

This is a great idea, but what happens if I just need to get an operating system? My motherboard failed last Saturday. I assumed I would get Windows 7 64 bit to go with it, but he repairman advised me to stick with my Vista Business 32bit until Windows 8 came out (tbh, I didn't even know there was a Windows 8 coming out soon). However, the Vista is tied to the dead motherboard, so here I am essentially without an OS. If I buy Windows 7 now, I am not buying another OS in October or even next year. The TOS of the Windows 8 customer preview says I may not use it as my main operating system. Given what I have seen of Windows 8 so far (and I only installed it yesterday), I'd rather wait, as the repairman suggested.

Stand to be corrected here as things may have changed but I had a motherboard go down which was linked to an OEM OS. Fitted a replacement motherboard as the original vendor had gone AWOL so the guarantee was as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike. Come licensing time and MS re-validated without any problems whatsoever.

Ah well, perhaps you have a friendlier Microsoft where you live. They were absolutely not interested here, not even in a four-year-old Vista Business 32 bit. Microsoft Answers was equally adamant.

When W8 comes out, and if I like the final build I am going to have to buy two (one for my desktop and one for my laptop) so I really hope there is a heavily discounted price offer sometime soon :)
