No, you can no longer skip the serial and install in "trial" mode.
I didn't have any trouble doing that with CP - has something changed since then?

None of my CP installs allowed bypassing the key either

I do miss the trial mode, and the resetting of Windows activation to allow another 30 days, lol.

    Anyone enlighten me on that?
If you chose upgrade, it won't let you install Windows 8 to a new partition.
I wasn't offered the choice of upgrade....or anything else for that matter.

If you download Windows 8 inside of Windows and use the Windows 8 installer, then the only thing you can do is upgrade to Windows 8. You should download the iso if you want to choose which partition to install Windows 8 on. Here is the link to the isos:Windows 8 Release Preview ISO formats

    Windows 10 Education 64 Bit

Just finished downloading the 64 bit. I'll likely install it tomorrow some time and dual boot with Windows 7 on my main rig. I want to see how well it works with dual monitors. Thanks for the link.

Remember to note down the serial from the first post before you try to install

I was installing from Vista to another (blank) partition as I stated. I also stated I had burned the image to a DVD-RW - which means I already downloaded the .iso...actually got it from Technet.
Maybe an advanced install can only be done by booting to the media?

I'm going to be building a PC very soon. Obviously I'm going to need an OS for it. Rather than shell out £80 for Windows 7 only to upgrade to 8 when it comes out a couple of months later, could I instead install the release preview onto it and upgrade to 8 when it comes out? Link to the release...
