I'm getting it at 1.74MB/sec, I am going to clean install and see if some of the annoying little bugs have been fixed.

Don't forget that, if you plan on installing from a USB stick (as I am), then you will need to convert (extract) the .ISO file(s) before copying them over. The best tool I've found for this purpose is ExtractNow - Extract multiple archives easily The USB sticks can be prepared in exactly the same way as for Windows 7 (and Vista) - see USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create - Windows 7 Forums for instructions.

Hopefully, with this release MS have ironed out some (preferably all) of the bugs. The main one of these being, in my case, the tendency of the graphics driver to stop responding with a purple screen and probable automatic reboot (only happens in Windows 8, both Vista and Windows 7 are unaffected).

I'm going to be building a PC very soon. Obviously I'm going to need an OS for it. Rather than shell out £80 for Windows 7 only to upgrade to 8 when it comes out a couple of months later, could I instead install the release preview onto it and upgrade to 8 when it comes out? Link to the release...
