Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 also brings MKV video support

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 aka GDR2 is slowly making it out the gate to various phones. The update comes preinstalled on the new Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. However, the OS update managed to sneak on a few phones due to a bug in the Windows 10 Technical Preview update a week back, including the Lumia 930.

Mkv is awesome! Amazing the quality in very small file size. It is the new leader when it comes to size vs quality. I hope all video streaming services like NetFlix, Hulu and HBO move to it and soon.

True Popeye !, but i wonder why not on Windows 8.1 PC's, just phones. Windows Media Player still can not play MKV.

Heh, heh I get that a lot. I actually use it because I lost an eye about 25 years ago. Popped it out with a bungee cord. This has been your safety lesson for the day folks!
