Is it a problem if Windows 8 boots too quickly?

Meh. My SSD-based Win7 rig already boots so fast the login screen appears before the Windows animation is done. All you have to do is hold down (not just tap) the key (del, F8, etc) as the system boots, not wait for a prompt; thought this was what people were already doing.

F8 on my ASUS motherboards opens the BIOS boot options menu. To get to the Windows F8 options I have to wait and press it at the correct time. I don't have UEFI or an SSD and its still tricky to get the timing right.

MS: The "Boot Options" Menu, A Fix For Windows 8's Fast-Booting Ways

As any SSD owner can tell you, fast boot times are a wonderful thing! Except for, well, when they're not. Microsoft's been working hard at reducing the boot times in Windows 8 and to hear them tell it, your home screen pops up so fast that there simply isn't enough time to mash on the trusty ol' F2 or F8 if you need to muck around in the BIOS or enter Safe Mode. Rather than shrugging their shoulders and leaving users to press a key in a 200ms window, Microsoft instead created a new "Boot Options" menu.

Perhaps they should make it a BIOS option, to toggle a prompt whether the user wishes to boot immediately or supply a pause during which the user can enter a keystroke to activate whatever. Like, BIOS option "boot delay = OFF (default)", machine boots normally, and "boot delay = ON", machine pauses 5 seconds before booting the OS.

I think fast boot times are fantastic, but when they get too fast, one must work around that to get to advanced boot options. I think it's interesting how Microsoft has setup the advanced boot menu in such a way you can easily access it when genuinely needed (or not needed) and even have them easily accessible.

My BIOS has a "Quick Boot" option that you can turn off. When you do that it displays more info during the post and you will have more time to hit the Del key. The thing is most people would likely turn Quick Boot on so that the PC boots up faster. Getting into the BIOS isn't usually a problem for me, its getting to the Windows F8 options that can be a pain. It looks like Microsoft have that covered now though.
I'm thinking a little dedicated button on the motherboardback panell to enter the BIOS would work better. Or have the case reset button do it. It's been years since I have ever used the reset button on any of my PC's.

I don't understand why Microsoft doesn't ask the EFI writers to allow the user to hold F8 while booting.
