Cortana finally gives weather in Celsius based on weather

Cortana-Weather-Celsius.jpg

For some time now, users outside of the US using Cortana could get the weather but it was always in Fahrenheit. To get around this US-based temperature system, users had to use the voice assistant to request the temperature in Celsius specifically each time. It worked, but it was also cumbersome.

This morning, Windows Central began receiving numerous reports that their weather is now showing up in their Cortana stream in their regional preference aka Celsius.

The QUESTION should be why is the USA still using Fahrenheit temperature measurement? The USA got independence from the UK in 1776 yet still clings to an archaic measurements which are essentially the Old British Imperial System with a few tweaks here and there.

When I was a kid, we'll say in the bicentennial days of America's revolutionary war, there was talk of converting to the metric system. I never was taught the metric system. I have a very basic knowledge, and I do mean basic, of the metric system. Meters and Celsius, and such, mean nothing to me really. I can tell you how big a 64th of an inch is, but centimeters I'm lost. I always thought that we didn't learn it because those who were our teachers didn't know it. It has been, only in the last 20 years that stuff has been slowly, and I do mean slowly, converting over. I used to by my sodas by the ounce. Now it's measured in liters. With ounces in brackets. So slowly, the US is transitioning. My kid knows more about metrics than me.

The metric system is easy. Always based on 10s.. 10cm = 1mm, 100mm = 1m, Like 10 pennies = 1 dime 10 dimes = $1
Imperial system is crazy. An inch can be broken down to any fraction. 12 inches = 1 ft, 3 ft = 1 yd, 16½ ft = 1 rod etc
And it is all based on "A thumb is about an inch width & 12 thumbs fit in a size 10 shoe." LOL. I do believe a surveyor spent a lot time by the warm fire waiting for his size 10 shoes to dry out.
Here's a link to information from origin of Imperial measurements to money.
