    Will Windows 10 make it

In the desktop world, Microsoft's biggest competitor is always itself. Or rather, in this case, Microsoft circa 2009, which is when Windows 7 was launched. According to figures from Netmarketshare, Windows 7 still accounts for 56 percent of the desktop market. Windows XP (launched back in 2001) is on 18 percent, while Windows 8 and 8.1 combined come in at about 15 percent, which shows just how well Windows 8 has performed.

I dunno. I did try out the consumer preview for Windows 8, which led me to purchase an upgrade license once it was released. I don't think I will care to do the same for 10, plus now that I hear about the keylogger thing included, I won't even bother...

To me it felt like MS short-changed 8.1 users by not including start menu. So, they should give away 10 for free to these users. I can understand charging for 7, since it's just Vista with a new taskbar. Vista and 7 both had start menu, but 8.1 didn't. Anyways, I couldn't really care less. I like Win 8.1 as it is and will probably continue to make use of my license...

Only time will tell. Experts like to make predictions but often they are wrong, sometimes very wrong. There were those who predicted that XP would be a flop.

Absolutely right. The last time I listened to the predictions of a stock market expert I lost a lot of money,

Windows 10's 'built-in keylogger'? Ha ha, says Microsoft..

WHY is this still being debated?? Microsoft has admitted to using keystrokes as a routine form of "data collection". That IS "keylogging" -- period!

And WHY are we debating this here -- on this forum??

This has already been debated -- at length -- on the Windows 10 forum.

Let's not start this tedious debate all over again on this forum. Please!

Thanks Derek for the link. I must have missed that. I turned off the internet in my Win10 virtual system. That should do it.

Like whs, I wasn't aware of it until now, but now I've read about it, I think if one is going to test software it should be expected that a tester's use of that software will be monitored for the testing period at some stage. It's not a problem and it's in the agreement. If you've seen alot of discussion on this subject, I agree; it's much ado about nothing.

1st, Yes Windows 10 will make it. Windows 10 has not even hit CP yet and has already a measurable percentage of market share. Plus honestly what is Windows 10 missing? Everything people have been complaining about that has been missing from Windows 8.1 has been added and some.

2nd, as for the key logger I understand people's concern but honestly how many of these people complaining about the key logger have a Android or iOS device? If you read the user agreement you will find that Google and Apple collect a great deal of data on their users as well and not to mention the apps you install collect some insane data as well. Don't get me wrong complain as if enough people do this might keep MS from going down the same track as every other company but give them a break if you own another product which is already violating your privacy.
