January 13th 2015 Windows Updates for Windows 8.1

Today, as part of Update Tuesday, we released eight security updates – one rated Critical and seven rated Important in severity, to address eight unique Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) in Microsoft Windows.

We encourage you to apply all of these updates. For more information about this month’s security updates, including the detailed view of the Exploit Index (XI) broken down by each CVE, visit the Microsoft Bulletin Summary webpage. If you are not familiar with how we calculate XI, a full description can be found here.

    We re-released one Security Bulletin:

    One Security Advisory was revised:

I don't recall seeing the updates for IE 11 and Adobe Flash Player. Anyone know why?

I had problems... I'll report back later but short version,

Installed updates yesterday when released and following a restart my network connection dropped out a few seconds after coming back online (not connected, networks available). Rebooted again, all seemed OK until I open IE at which point same thing happens. Eventually it connects.

This morning I had a notice flash up across screen centre saying 3 more optional updates available. These were not there yesterday.

This morning I reverted back with Acronis to before the updates and this time nine updates, no Defender update (which was present yesterday) and no optional updates again. This time my keyboard was inoperative following the requested restart, which a reboot fixed. Defender is a puzzle. No updates showing for this. 191.2156.0 is version installed which is more than 24 hours old. There was a new version showing in yesterdays updates. Where is it now ?

Just forced a manual check for updates and the three optionals that were present earlier are now not appearing. Defender update now shows.
