All done and okay so far.

I'm curious why a .Net update was rated 'Important' but not flagged for automatic download and install. Had to choose this one manually (and could have missed it as I'm set for automatic updates so don't always check); seems odd if it was so important??

My guess is they want you to install that all by itself after you do all the other ones. If left to update automatically it likely would have done it that way. I've seen that before and every once in a while when I check them to be done all at once I'll get a "this update cannot be done at this time" or something similar message. After I update and reboot that update goes through with no issues.

The update is disappointing. They should released new features for the 8.1 or maybe fix the Media Player. There are some video it stutter while playing on some format. Very disappointed...

That makes sense, thank you. But then does that mean that if you leave it alone, at some point the update will get checked automatically and then install itself?

I noticed this one on 13th, when all the other arrived. When I looked again on 14th the others had installed but this one was still sitting there unchecked. I manually checked and installed it. If I hadn't, wonder if it would still be sitting waiting?

That I'm not sure about? Having done the manual update, with it sitting there pending, you'll likely have to checkmark it for it to install. That's what I normally do anyway.

I have not experienced this. More than likely, it is the result of limitations on your own specific computer (low-end computer, perhaps). See this, it might help you out: Optimize Performance of Windows 8
