Internet Explorer 11 now most used web browser in World

Microsoft’s most current web browser Internet Explorer 11 is now the most popular web-surfing tool out there. According to the latest stats from analyst firm Net Applications, the Internet Explorer 11 has climbed up the order to take the baton from the widespread Internet Explorer 8 to claim the number 1 spot. Let’s see how other browsers did last month.

Sometimes there is a simple logic behind it. If people can not use their browser in metro, they will use, what is there. Even I do not know, how to create a shortcut in a metro desktop.

You have to take these stats with a grain of salt though. They can definitely give you a sense of what's happening : IE 11 is getting more popular. But extrapolating that IE 11 is now the "most popular web-surfing tool"... wow that's taking it too far.

Compare Net Applications with the stats from Wikimedia which regroups requests to Wipedia and its associated resources (Wiktionary, Wikibooks, Wikinews, etc...) : Wikimedia Traffic Analysis Report - Browsers e.a.
Or even Stat Counter : StatCounter Global Stats - Browser, OS, Search Engine including Mobile Usage Share

They don't paint the same picture, at all... I know sensationalims is kinda required in this type of articles, but at least journalists should point out other similar sources to back up their points.

Most stats I have seen show Chrome as the highest with 45-48% share of the market, not the about 12% these stats show.

Someone somewhere is stretching the truth I think.

The stats are reliable I assume BUT they don't mean AT ALL what the journalist said. Net Applications get these statistics only from its clients websites, and they aren't representative of the whole Internet. As you may already guess Microsoft is one of their clients.
